Free Reverse Phone Lookup: How to Find Who Called You
Getting calls from unknown numbers? A reverse phone lookup lets you identify the caller by searching their phone number in a public records database.
What is a Reverse Phone Lookup?
A reverse phone lookup is a search that starts with a phone number and returns information about the owner — their name, address, carrier, phone type (mobile or landline), and whether the line is currently connected.
How to Do a Free Reverse Phone Lookup
- Go to ActualPeopleSearch's phone lookup — click the "Phone" tab on the search form
- Enter the phone number — include the area code (10 digits total)
- View results — see the owner's name, address, and additional details
- Click for more info — view the full profile with relatives, associates, and more
What Information Can You Find?
- Owner's full name and any aliases
- Current and previous addresses
- Phone type (mobile, landline, VoIP)
- Carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.)
- Connection status — is the line still active?
- Associated people — relatives and associates
When to Use Reverse Phone Lookup
- Unknown callers: Identify who called or texted you
- Spam detection: Check if a number is associated with spam or scams
- Verification: Confirm someone's identity from their phone number
- Reconnecting: Find someone when you only have their old phone number
Tips for Better Results
- Enter the full 10-digit number including area code
- For international numbers, try the local digits only
- If the number is VoIP or prepaid, results may be limited
- Check both the phone lookup and a name search for the most complete picture
